In my experience, you don't need thousands upon thousands of photos to make it
happen in the digital photography business. I know this may sound odd to you,
but it's certainly true in my case. Besides how long do you want to wait to
receive your first photo check? The sooner the better, right? So, if I can dish
out some basic photography tips or advice here, then this article will show you
why getting to that first 100 photos is a good way to start.
In
a nutshell, I make some nice occasional sales from a very limited number of my
photos. Granted, these images are probably appropriate for the needs of those
who buy them. So, that's my advice on this matter. Go and focus on getting your
first 100 pics done. Aim to make them the best 100 you can do. Some stock photo
agencies and so forth will show interest. Others won't. It's no big deal. Just
try to get those first 100 done.
And
thats the big secret to the digital photography business in my books. It's
like, you need to get started, and you need something to focus on. So my
photography tip would be to make a goal like your first 100 shots. Done well
that can feed you for a while. Especially if you find a good boutique or stock
photo agency that likes your style. And once you've done those 100 (or 200,
etc) you can work on increasing your image portfolio easily enough.
Whether
or not you focus on a particular theme for those first 100 shots is up to you.
You might find you work better be covering a range of different image styles.
Or just stick to one theme or topic. And if I can give you another photography
tip... Make sure the photographs you are planning to shoot are images that are
in 'demand' (or needed) by stock photo agencies. Do this properly, and you'll
be the world's happiest camper!
